WHY ALL THIS GARBAGE IN OUR PARKS AND ON OUR STREETS?

I have noticed that the past few years Toronto is becoming very dirty. I am not sure if it is because we have different values nowadays or if it because the newest wave of immigrants to Toronto, do not come from cultures where street cleanliness is was priority?
I do not understand how someone drinks a coffee and drops the cup on the sidewalk- only a few feet away from the garbage can?
Nowadays I walk around Toronto streets and see tons of pop cans, pizza boxes, coffee cups....you name it...and this mess exists even though we have way more city staff cleaning our streets, than back in the 80's (when Toronto was super clean).
I think we can start by teaching our children and ourselves to pick up our mess and not assume it is someone elses responsibility.
It could be as easy as picking up that pop can in front of your house/condo/apartment rather than walking by the filth and waiting for someone else or mother nature to do the job for you.
